Who We Are
Building financial capability across Birmingham, one conversation at a time
Crystal Hatch began with a simple observation: financial stress affects millions of families, yet practical money education remains inaccessible to most people who need it.
Not because they aren't interested. Not because they aren't capable. Simply because nobody offers it in a way that meets them where they are.
Our Mission
We exist to make financial literacy accessible, practical, and relevant for every age and stage of life.
We believe that money management isn't an innate skill—it's learned. And like any skill, it becomes easier with proper guidance, practice, and support.
Our programmes serve children discovering how money works, teenagers navigating their first financial decisions, and adults building the capability they wish they'd learned years ago.
How We Work
Every programme we deliver is grounded in three principles:
Practical Over Theoretical
We focus on skills you'll use immediately. Budgeting that works with real life. Saving strategies that fit actual circumstances. Decision frameworks you can apply the same day.
Age-Appropriate Content
A seven-year-old needs different tools than a seventeen-year-old. Adults face distinct challenges from teenagers. We design each programme for the specific developmental stage and life circumstances of participants.
Judgment-Free Environment
Financial difficulties happen to capable, intelligent people. Past money mistakes don't define future capability. We create spaces where questions are welcomed and learning happens without shame.
Our Approach to Teaching
Financial education fails when it lectures. It succeeds when it engages.
We use case studies, interactive exercises, real-world scenarios, and small group discussions. Participants learn by doing, not just listening.
Sessions are deliberately kept small—typically 8 to 12 people—so everyone has space to ask questions, share experiences, and receive individual attention.
"Other courses I've tried felt like being talked at. This felt like actual learning. I could ask stupid questions and get real answers."
— Adult programme participant
Who Delivers Our Programmes
Our facilitators combine financial expertise with teaching ability. They understand both the technical aspects of money management and the psychological barriers that make it challenging.
More importantly, they remember what it feels like not to know. That empathy shapes how we teach.
Our Commitment to Birmingham
We're based in Birmingham because this city is home. We know its neighborhoods, its families, its challenges, and its potential.
Sessions run across multiple locations to ensure accessibility. We work with schools, community centers, and local organizations to reach families who might not otherwise access financial education.
This isn't a franchise operation or a corporate training program. It's a local initiative focused on building financial capability within our community.
